The Communications Oriented Production Information and Control System (TFG2000) provides management with a guide for the development of a dynamic, online manufacturing control system that is responsive to the needs of many kinds of businesses. One of the products within TFG2000 is TFG2000 Product Cost Calculations (PCC), a set of programs that can be used to maintain current costs and cost history information to determine trends for use in product cost planning. Online transactions allow the user to query and update this information, and batch programs handle the bulk data requirements of this product.
TFG2000 PCC requires the TFG2000 Base Product, which consists of the TFG2000 data bases, TFG2000 programs that are common to several TFG2000 products, and installation and conversion tools.
The User Guide and Reference Manual is one of six manuals that support TFG2000 Product Cost Calculations and the TFG2000 Base Product. It is intended for the team involved in planning, scheduling, and implementing TFG2000 PCC . The team includes the following:
This manual provides the reference information necessary to operate TFG2000 PCC after it is successfully installed, such as input data layouts, output screen descriptions, and error messages. It assumes that the reader has some knowledge of the TFG2000 design philosophy, which applies to all TFG2000 application products. This information can be found in Chapter 1 of the TFG2000 Product Cost Calculations General Information Manual, GH31-0010. TFG2000 PCC data processing descriptions and installation information for system operators is provided in the TFG2000 Product Cost Calculations Operations Guide, GH31-0043.
Information concerning the installation of the TFG2000 Base Product, can be found in the TFG2000 Installation Guide, SH12-5538 (for MVS) or SH12-5539 (for VSE). Information about common application programs, sample data bases, and the Standard Text Data Base can be found in the TFG2000 Administration, Operations, and Users' Guide.
The TFG2000 Product Cost Calculations User Guide and Reference Manual consists of two parts: a User Guide (chapters 1-2) and a Reference Manual (the remainder of the manual).
The User Guide is intended for inexperienced TFG2000 users. A new user should read chapters 1 and 2 and run the Sample Problem before reading the rest of the manual. A user who is familiar with other TFG2000 applications should already be familiar with some of this material.
The User Guide (chapters 1-2) describes the following:
The Reference Manual is intended as reference material for the experienced TFG2000 user who may not be familiar with a specific product.
The Reference Manual describes the following:
The general structure of the manual is as follows:
New users of TFG2000 PCC should run the Sample Problem, provided in Appendix C, and review the section "Initiating Transactions," in Chapter 2, before reading these detailed descriptions.
The individual chapters are:
The Sample Problem is provided for two reasons:
Sample data bases are provided with the TFG2000 Base Product. The Sample Problem follows a sequence of online transactions and batch programs that should be similar to those used in a production environment. You can step through this sequence, checking the results against those included in the text. All personnel involved with installing and using the product should perform this exercise.
Note: Certain figures and data mentioned in this manual assume that the options selected, by means of the Environment Table and other parameter values, are the default values as distributed with the product.
Five other publications are available for TFG2000 PCC:
This manual is a high-level description of the TFG2000 PCC functions and applications.
It includes a brief description of the overall TFG2000 system, details of the specific application area and how TFG2000 PCC addresses the relevant functions, and how TFG2000 PCC can be integrated with other TFG2000 products.
For data processing personnel, details are given about the DP environment required to install and operate the product. Personnel involved in purchasing the TFG2000 products should read this manual.
This manual is intended primarily for the data processing personnel who are involved with the installation and implementation of TFG2000 PCC. They should be familiar with CICS, DL/I, the operating system of choice, and some computerized applications.
The product installation details are discussed, together with how to integrate TFG2000 PCC with other installed TFG2000 products.
Reference material is provided that describes the online and batch programs and lists the relevant data bases. Operational considerations for both online and batch processing are also discussed.
This manual provides details of the general design and contents of all TFG2000 data bases for all currently available TFG2000 application products. It describes the structure of each TFG2000 data base, together with the segments and individual data elements which make up the data base.
Topics included in the book are as follows:
The TFG2000 Data Base Guide is primarily for data processing personnel and the data base administrator. However, it could be considerably useful as a reference document to end-user management or anyone connected with the use of the TFG2000 application products. The intentions of the book are as follows:
This manual provides guidance and reference information for installing the TFG2000 Base Product. It is available in two different versions, depending upon the operating system you are using, MVS or VSE.
It discusses the following topics:
This manual provides guidance and reference information for administering the TFG2000 Base Product.
It discusses the following topics:
Chapter 1. Introducing TFG2000
Product Cost Calculations
Chapter 2. Using TFG2000 Product
Cost Calculations
Chapter 3. Data Base Creation and
Maintenance
Chapter 6. Comparison of Costs
